At a meeting between Government officials and VPC leadership in Ha Noi yesterday, the Prime Minister stressed that the company should overcome its investment slowdown and implement a strategic development plan for the next 10-15 years in order to become a key component of the country’s paper industry. The result would be a significant contribution to the stabilisation of market prices.
The corporation should also accelerate its equitisation process, he said.
In 2008, the VPC reported VND5.6 trillion (US$329 million) in revenues, with a net profit of VND 250 billion ($14.7 million).
It produced over 315,000 tonnes of paper, accounting for 30 per cent of the industry’s total volume.
